Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has disclosed plans by his administration to embark on further flood control measures in Uyo metropolis, especially along some sections of the Ibrahim Babangida Avenue.

He said the move is to enhance the livelihood of residents and road users in the area.

The Governor made this known while addressing a cross section of worshipers at a special worship service at Revival Valley Ministries International, located along IBB avenue in Uyo, the State capital.

The Governor who said he was prompted by the Holy Spirit to worship at the church, expressed discontent at the nature of flood disturbing the church premises and other facilities around the area, and directed the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Prof. Eno Ibanga and the Managing Director of Hensek Integrated Services, Engr. Uwem Okoko, to draw out plans on how to successfully control flooding in the area.

Governor Eno appreciated Archbishop Idem Ikon, the General Overseer of the church, for his unwavering commitment and dedication in the Lord’s vineyard as well as his remarkable support for his administration.

“Sir, we are here to share fellowship with you. And, we are so blessed by your teaching today. We are heartily so proud of you as our grandfather in the Lord.”

The Governor reiterated his advocacy for unity, oneness of thought and purpose from every citizen in the pursuit of the Akwa Ibom vision for the attainment of the desired peace, progress and growth of the State.

“Our success as an administration,I believe more than anything else, is attributed to the prayers of men and women of God in this State, and our success is a confirmation that God has been answering those prayers.

“The peace that we enjoy in this State today is a confirmation of the yearnings of our Fathers in the Lord that we should all remain in peace,” he said.

The Governor noted that Akwa Ibom State has been specifically blessed to have experienced the recent peaceful political transition which has strengthened the inherent peace and brotherhood in the State.

He charged the people not to engage in unnecessary politicization of the body of Christ and cause division among the people, stressing that God is for all, irrespective of one’s political persuasion.

“We should stop using religious sentiments to divide the body of Christ. If we accept that God brought me from nowhere to lead our State today, and I accept that myself, then, we should not try to control what God will do with a man that we all believe God brought for a time like this. Let’s believe that he is also acting the script of God that has been fore written,” he added.

Earlier in his homily, Archbishop Ikon, preaching on the theme, “We Need One Another,” culled from the Bible book of 1st Corinthians 12:12-23, admonished Christians never to see themselves as valueless, as God, he said, has deposited something unique and significant in them which cannot be duplicated.

The Cleric charged everyone not to look down on themselves or anyone else as whosoever is in Christ is a new creation, programmed to function exceptionally excellent and important.

The Service was graced by members of the State Executive Council, clergies, captains of industry and Christian faithful in the State.
