Ikot Ekpene: Hon. Nkom, NGO Partner to Campaign Against Drug Abuse

The Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Hon. Aniefiok Nkom, has expressed his administration’s readiness to partner with Grow Africa Youth Initiatives (GAYI) to intensify sensitization against drug abuse.

Hon. Nkom who made the commitment on Tuesday, October 7, in his office while hosting a delegation from GAYI, described the campaign against illicit drug use as a critical step toward safeguarding communities and ensuring a safe environment for citizens and residents to thrive.

Also, the Chairman, who was honoured with the Kwame Nkrumah Grow Africa Prize for Excellence as an Icon of Public Service Renaissance for his contributions to public service and educational development, appreciated the recognition and assured the delegation of his administration’s full support.

Earlier, the President of GAYI, Comrade Ozim Temple, explained that the organization is focused on positioning African youths toward achieving the 2063 Agenda — Africa’s long-term blueprint for continental transformation. He said effective campaigns against drug abuse require collaboration with government, stakeholders, and communities for greater grassroots impact.
