Uyo LG Chairman Commits Over ₦11 Million for 2025 Students’ Bursary

The Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Hon. Uwemedimo Udo, has committed over N11 million for the payment of 2025 bursary to Uyo Students in tertiary institutions, demonstrating dedication to academic growth of young people.

The payment exercise commenced on Thursday, September 18, with students of the University of Uyo, during a flag-off Ceremony at the Council Secretariat.

The Chairman, who was represented by Mr. Ekom Daniel, described the gesture as another milestone, recalling that three months prior, the entrepreneurial sector benefited, and now it was the turn of the students.

In addition, the Director of SDEISC, Mrs. Ifreke Okpon, lauded the council boss for institutionalising bursary payments in Uyo, while urging the students to use the fund wisely.

On behalf of the Students, Comrade Gideon Douglas, President of Uyo Students Association, UniUyo Chapter, and Comrade Utibe Ekanem of NANS, expressed deep gratitude, noting that the student community will not forget the Chairman’s support.

Goodwill messages were also delivered by the Dean of Supervisors and Special Advisers, Obong Idara Akpan and the Supervisor for Health, Mrs. Praise Otuekong, who all lauded Hon. Udo’s commitment to education and empowerment.
