Pastor Eno Reaffirms Dedication to Citizens’ Welfare as Food Distribution Gets to Nsit Atai
As part of his administration’s ongoing relief programme to cushion the impact of rising food prices on vulnerable households, Governor Umo Eno on Wednesday, September 17, dispatched truckloads of staple food items to Nsit Atai Local Government Area for distribution.
The exercise, which took place at the Council Headquarters, Odot, was led by the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and indigene of the area, Hon. Emem Ibanga, who, was warmly received by an enthusiastic crowd, which gathered in anticipation of the support.
Explaining that the initiative was a temporary measure to ease the hardship occasioned by escalating food prices, Hon. Ibanga also reiterated that residents should embrace farming as a long-term solution to food security.
The Commissioner further highlighted the numerous benefits that Nsit Atai has enjoyed under Governor Eno’s administration, including healthcare centres, model schools, compassionate homes, and grants for entrepreneurs. She assured the people that more development projects and humanitarian interventions would be extended to the area as they continue to support the government.
Hon. Ibanga emphasised the Governor’s inclusive style of leadership, noting that the creation of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs was a testament of his compassion for the people.
Urging the residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and register on government platforms for access to more opportunities, the Humanitarian boss also charged the people to remain vigilant against fraudsters, stressing that no government intervention requires payment.
Describing the intervention as timely, in view of the prevailing economic situation, the Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Anthony Nyong, commended Pastor Eno for being a visionary and compassionate leader, assuring that the food items would be equitably distributed across all the 10 Wards of the area as captured in the social register.
Beneficiaries who spoke during the exercise, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his humane gesture, maintaining that he was committed to easing their burdens and spreading joy in difficult times.
