Gov Eno Extends Relief to Ibesikpo Asutan, Reiterates Need to Embrace Farming

Date:

The State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has extended the ARISE Food Security Programme to Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, with the distribution of food items to vulnerable households, to cushion the effect of the prevailing economic hardship.

The distribution exercise, took place on Monday, September 8, at Ibesikpo Commercial Secondary School, Nung Udoe.

Represented by the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Emem Ibanga, Governor Eno reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring no resident of the State goes hungry. However, he reiterated the need for citizens to embrace farming as the most sustainable path to long-term food security.

The Governor also encouraged residents to participate actively in the ongoing INEC voter registration, noting that being captured in official records would ensure inclusion in future government interventions. He further assured beneficiaries who could not redeem their vouchers in the second phase that their items had been provided for in the current exercise.

Welcoming the State delegation, the Chairman of Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, Hon. Edidiong Inyang, commended Governor Eno for demonstrating fatherly care through the initiative. Inyang pledged continued support for the administration, assuring that the people of the area would stand firmly with the Governor in 2007.

The exercise was supervised by the General Manager of the Akwa Ibom State Bulk Purchase Agency, Hon. Unyime Etim, in collaboration with councillors, supervisors, stakeholders, and Ward Personal Assistants, to ensure a smooth and transparent process.

In response, beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Governor for the timely and transformative intervention, noting that the food distribution had provided much-needed relief to their households.
