The Akwa Ibom State Civil Service, has witnessed a significant transition in leadership as the newly appointed Head of Civil Service, Mrs. Elsie Peters, formally assumed office following the official handover by her predecessor, Elder Effiong Essien.
Mrs. Peters, was sworn in on Tuesday, November 18, by Governor Umo Eno, marking the beginning of a new phase in the administration of the State’s bureaucratic engine room.
During a brief handover ceremony, Mrs. Peters expressed profound appreciation to Governor Eno for the confidence reposed in her through the appointment. She pledged to provide purposeful leadership and drive reforms that will support the effective implementation of the Governor’s ARISE Agenda across the civil service.
She also attributed her career progression to God’s faithfulness and acknowledged the mentorship and support received from her predecessor. Mrs. Peters thanked Elder Essien for ensuring a seamless transition and for the guidance he offered throughout their working relationship.

In his remarks, Elder Effiong Essien congratulated Mrs. Peters on her appointment and officially welcomed her to her new responsibilities. He commended her professionalism and expressed confidence in her capacity to advance the gains of the service. Elder Essien also offered prayers for her success, expressing optimism that her achievements would surpass his own.
The brief handover exercise, was witnessed by the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Head of Civil Service, Ms. Doris Ikpuho, alongside directors including Mr. Nsoyo Akai, Mrs. Gladys Phillip, and Mrs. Victoria Nta.
